National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

The purpose of dedicating a month to breast cancer awareness is to bring attention and visibility to this all too common disease.  The intention is to educate all to the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, to remind your sister friends to get their annual mammograms, and to encourage all women to do their monthly self examinations.  Early detection is truly critical in the outcomes of treatment.

According to Breastcancer.org,

  • About 1 in 8 U.S. women (about 12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.
  • In 2019, an estimated 268,600 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 62,930 new cases of non-invasive breast cancer.
